Job Description:

Job Purpose Summary:

To collect on outstanding balances and ensure that insurance companies are paying correctly and according to our contract with them.  To review all aspects of claims to determine what the reason is for the outstanding balance and to take corrective action if needed.

*Key Responsibilities:

  1. Reviews orders to ensure accuracy of codes, quantity, and pricing
  2. Follow-up with insurance company to obtain payment from services rendered
  3. Prepares and submits documentation to increase likelihood of claims payment
  4. Answers questions from providers, patients, and insurance companies
  5. Knowledge of contract specific billing and paying procedures
  6. Identifies and resolves collection issues
  7. Performs necessary adjustments and refund requests
  8. Follows strict HIPAA confidentiality guidelines

Key Qualifications:

  1. Ability to multitask and prioritize
  2. Must be well organized and detail-oriented
  3. Knowledge of basic medical coding and billing as well as comply with continuing education per company or accreditation mandate. Knowledge of various healthcare industry billing and/or coding terminologies such as ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT, modifiers, and various Medicare LCDs  
  4. Flexible with the ability to routinely adapt to change
  5. Team player with excellent communication skills
  6. Possess strong time management and organization skills
  7. Work well under pressure and be punctual

Education:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  1. Must comply with continuing education per Company, regulatory, contractual, and accreditation requirements
