The Technical Sales Specialist focuses on complex and technical solutions for businesses that are customers of the various VGM Group, Inc. membership groups. This new role will generate revenue for our company as well as offer value to our members. Selling through traditional sales methods as well as educational selling will be key role of this position.
Reports to: CIO
Hours: Full-Time: Monday – Friday 8-5 PM+ (additional hours as needed)
Working Location: VGM Main Campus, Waterloo, IA

To find potential customers of technology products and solutions. VGM collaborates with vendors to deliver our members the best possible technology to grow and secure their businesses. This position will deliver and follow-up on recommendations for our members. They will meet with customers and technical staff to discover what they need. They will then prepare and deliver presentations that propose solutions offered by our business partners that lower costs, increase productivity and add security. When customers are ready to order the specialist will help negotiate contracts and arrange for delivery. They then periodically check up on clients to see how current installations are working and to offer additional services and products.
The Technical sales specialist will leverage the outside sales team as well as the inside sales representatives to market and promote the offerings to our members. This role may do both the presentations and negotiating of contracts. A focus will be on explaining the technical aspects of their offerings in conjunction with the sales and marketing teams of our partner vendors and internal offerings. Specialists can perform other tasks that are related to sales.
For example, this role will be involved in market research, so they can modify existing products and services or recommend new ones. Other duties include developing and implementing product-training programs for our internal employees and external customers.
· 5+ years of experience in the IT field
· 5+ years of sales or customer service
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a technology field
· Willingness to travel to regional and national trade shows
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Ability to convey technical concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-technical personnel
· Team oriented and motivated to support the success of themselves and others
· Driven and self-motivated
