Job Description

A Switchboard Operator is responsible for managing and fielding incoming calls.  They see to it that calls are answered and transferred timely.  They ask questions as necessary to ensure calls are transferred to the appropriate areas of the Company.  Phone calls and customer Service is the top priority as a Switchboard Operator.  Switchboard Operators also assist with other areas in the support department as time allows.

Responsibilities

These are the responsibilities expected of an applicant interested in this position.

  1. Manage a large volume of incoming calls
  2. Ensure that the telephones and front desk are covered at all times
  3. Maintain HIPAA compliance
  4. Facilitate visitor sign-in and security procedures
  5. Expedite phone calls to the appropriate areas of the Company
  6. Able to explain who HOMELINK is and how we work, and explain this to customers when necessary 
  7. Multi-tasking and handling other projects between phone calls is critical, as the Switchboard Operator plays a large part in keeping the daily tasks of Support Services on schedule
  8. Follows strict confidentiality and HIPAA privacy and security guidelines
  9. Other support duties as assigned

Qualifications

Applicants are expected to meet these qualifications to be considered for this position.

  1. Professional, polite, positive, and friendly to customers and co-workers
  2. Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  3. Possess strong time management and organization skills
  4. Work well under pressure and be punctual
  5. Flexible with the ability to routinely adapt to change
  6. Excellent communication skills
  7. Knowledge of various healthcare industry billing and/or coding terminologies such as ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT, modifiers, and various Medicare LCDs 

Education:

  1. High school education or equivalent
  2. Must comply with continuing education per Company, regulatory, contractual, and accreditation requirements

 

Physical Requirements:

  1. Sitting at desk, standing and walking, in office and throughout facility
  2. Operation of office machinery and equipment
  3. Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision
