Job Description

The Marketing Intern will assist in marketing, social media, communication and special events initiatives for a designated division of VGM. Interaction with customers or potential customers is possible. The right candidate must be detail oriented, demonstrate good communication skills and work well in a team and individual environment. As an intern with VGM one will be afforded the opportunity to work and experience VGM’s unique business environment and dynamic culture.

The work is fast-paced and deadline focused. You will be challenged to work as part of a team and autonomously on projects such as:

  • Competitor and Market Analysis
  • Creation of sales presentations, client leave-behinds/one-sheets, and e-mail campaigns
  • Collect data to be integrated with proprietary data sets, allowing for statistical or business analysis
  • Assist in event planning and execution

Working Location:    Waterloo, IA

Duration:                    Summer of 2018 with the opportunity for continuation;

These are the responsibilities expected of an applicant interested in this position.

Internship Learning Opportunities and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance of new marketing collateral, maintaining design standards and brand guidelines
  • Perform analysis of events, support the execution of events
  • Seek and analyze competitor marketing and sales materials both on and offline
  • Maintain and track marketing projects with mindfulness to priorities against higher-level marketing and brand strategy
  • Create and update schedules, documents and calendars
  • Create and edit website, blog, social media, email and traditional collateral copy as needed
  • Assist in the distribution or delivery of marketing materials
  • Assist with fulfillment of marketing offers
  • Maintain a positive, results oriented work environment, building partnerships and modelling teamwork, communicating to others in an open, balanced and objective manner
  • Perform other routine administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications

Applicants are expected to meet these qualifications to be considered for this position.

Highly preferred a junior or senior standing student with educational emphasis in Marketing and/or Business.

  • Solid working knowledge of Excel and relevant software such as MS-office: Word, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Sound interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Client focused approach to work
  • Possess the ability to be independent in much of their function and to reach out when help is needed
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple, potentially conflicting deadlines with attention to detail and within agreed timelines
  • A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning
  • Shows commitment to and performs consistently high quality work
