As the Network Security Engineer with VGM IT, you will work closely with the Information Security Officer and collaborate with various VGM business units to assess security vulnerabilities, concerns and assist with technical solutions.


These are the responsibilities expected of an applicant interested in this position.

  • Support for all desktop hardware and software including PC’s, MAC’s, IOS, Android devices, Windows 10, office 365 and knowledge of MDM systems.
  • Support Microsoft Windows Active Directory infrastructure including group policy.
  • Analyze and recommend solutions, upgrades and services for streamlining and process improvements.
  • Support of hardware/software maintenance to include troubleshooting, installation and upgrades for Workstations and servers.
  • Support of server backup software and hardware processes, maintenance and monitoring.
  • Provide helpdesk support for all users.
  • Support for Microsoft Windows applications, Power Point, Excel and Word.
  • Administration of Windows server 2012R2 / 2016.
  • Administration of Microsoft SQL server
  • Administration of Azure Cloud products
  • Support for VPN tunnels.
  • Support of VOIP phones.
  • Support network and data systems to include switches and access points.
  • Monitor network equipment and processes with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.
  • Support Antivirus and Antimalware applications.
  • Support Apple and Android smartphones and tablets.
  • Backup support for Firewalls and Internal Security applications.
  • Provide technical design, administrative, and operational support for LAN/WLAN/WAN/VoIP network infrastructure for the location
  • Connect, make changes and testing of existing and new infrastructure components and services
  • Manage access to the IT infrastructure components and services within the scope of responsibility
  • Insure safety and security standards for IT environment
  • Execute backup and restoration of data;
  • Execute support from/with 2nd level or 3rd level
  • Execute monitoring of IT environment/applications
  • Ensure fulfillment for quality of service (SLA) for IT infrastructure
  • Provide users support and helpdesk within the scope of the responsibility
  • Provide control and quality check of installation done by external companies (passive components/network equipment/applications);
  • Report about utilization, efficiency of IT equipment/applications and also register unauthorized or forbidden activities of the users
  • Provide necessary maintenance activities
  • Execute defined processes, procedures, instructions
  • Take part in cross-functional projects
  • Learn new information, techniques and tools in IT sphere and implement them accordingly
  • Create proposals for developing and improvement of IT network infrastructure
  • Create and maintain system information documentation, other documents and reports related to the responsibility scope, if it is necessary
  • Create and maintain internal instructions
  • Provide trainings to the team members and end users


Applicants are expected to meet these qualifications to be considered for this position.

You have:

  • AAS or bachelor’s degree in Computer Networking, System Administration, Computer Science or related field
  • 4+ years’ experience working in networking
  • Strong working experience in Windows
  • Detailed understanding of LANs/WANs, internet technology and network protocols
  • Ability to work with end users as well as executive level representatives
  • Knowledge of and experience with Network Security systems including routers, switches, firewalls and/or VPNs 
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP Experience securing Windows systems and configurations with Group Policy Objects (GPO), Windows host firewalls 
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies and concepts and apply that knowledge effectively. 

You might have:

  • Experience with Shell, Python, or related scripting languages
  • Experience in virtual environment administration
  • End to end network troubleshooting and analysis 
  • Operating System Hardening (Microsoft, Unix, Linux)
  • Database administration experience (MSSQL, MySQL, etc.)
  • Virtual environment administration experience (VMWare, Hyper-V, etc.)
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) implementation experience
  • Cisco, FortiGate, IOS Hardening
  • Experience working with various IT software products (Cisco, Dell, HP, etc.)
