Job Description

As an entry-level application developer with VGM Homelink one will be exposed to and learn through firsthand experience how to build and maintain software applications. The right candidate must have completed coursework in computer science or similar courses and be curious minded, detail oriented, demonstrate good communication skills and committed to success. Full-time and contract to full-time positions available.  

Reports to: VP of Information Services
Hours: Full-time 40 hours/ non-exempt
Working Location: VGM Main Campus Waterloo, Iowa

  • Assists in logical and physical database design.

Applicants are expected to meet these qualifications to be considered for this position.

  • Bachelors in CS is highly preferred. Familiar with .Net applications, ASP.Net, ADO.Net or Entity Framework and SQL Server 2008/2012.
  • Strong experience and understanding of object oriented development principles.
  • Experience with Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, and TFS Source Control.
  • Relevant Microsoft Certification a bonus.
  • Strong conceptualization, analytical, and logic skills.
  • Must excel at working with peers within a team environment.
  • Ability to meet project plan timelines and produce a high quality product.
  • Ability to take individual initiative and accountability for assignments.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new tools and technologies.
  • Strong conceptualization, analytical, and logic skills.
  • Detail-oriented with respect to documentation and communication.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting at desk, standing and walking, in office and throughout facility
  • Operation of office machinery and equipment
  • Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision
