Job Description

This position will be fast-paced and multi-faceted as a System Specialist for our distribution business. The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years’ experience in System/IT support, preferably in a warehouse or distribution setting. The ideal candidate also has the experience and hands-on ability to troubleshoot and problem solve computer system issues and hardware/software malfunctions. They also need to compile data requests using quantitative analytics and to leverage and gain insights from the data. This position will work in conjunction with customer contacts, software programmers, and our sales and implementation teams, communicating both technical and non-technical ideas to complete projects and enhance/improve systems. A key component to this job is being able to understand the general framework of all business processes (EDI, invoicing, website, ProShip, reporting, etc.) especially as they relate to our data traffic, thus being equipped to make decisions and answer questions from both internal and external sources.  

Reports to: System Support Lead

Hours: Full-time: Monday - Friday (8am - 5pm) 40 hours per week

Working Location: Waterloo, IA

Responsibilities

These are the responsibilities expected of an applicant interested in this position.

  • Manage multiple priorities, maintain detail, and meet deadlines.
  • Frequent and effective written and verbal communication with many sources.
  • Schedule, test, validate, and record new EDI connections and data.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of processes and workflows.
  • Data integrity and data reporting to support operations, customers, and management.
  • Manage day to day requests sent to the system support team.
  • Working with Microsoft Office, relational databases, SQL, statistical software, SSRS, and other reporting tools.
  • Diagnose and solve hardware/software issues.
  • Maintain system capability/ production environment.
  • Translate business needs to software vendors.

Qualifications

Applicants are expected to meet these qualifications to be considered for this position.

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and eager to learn.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, and in a group setting.
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL, statistical software, and SSRS preferred
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • The ability to communicate and present technical information.
  • Adept in software maintenance.
  • Skilled at software testing and software performance tuning.
