Job Description

As an Account Manager, an individual’s primary responsibility, is for the relationship management and overall account servicing and maintenance of accounts. Objectives and goals in the role are to expand client relationships by analyzing, communicating and eliminating coverage gaps and ensuring that a client’s risk is managed in an optimal manner. This includes securing new business and building the service offerings with existing clients.

 

Account Managers are cross-trained to perform all functions within the team. Handles accounts and is responsible for multiple accounts and clients. Services incoming new business and responsible for the entire process of the renewal of the business. Completes audits or performs quality assurance functions for the team. Performs exception processing and resolves complaints. Handles endorsements, works with the carrier on changes, determines the impact of the risk solutions and provides consult to the client. Works closely with clients and internal program team to present complex applications to various markets; negotiates with carriers and prepares quotes for presentation to clients.

 

Candidate must be highly motivated with a commitment to accomplishing goals and objectives as crucial to success in this role. A qualified insurance agent is a positive contributor with strong listening and communication skills and can relate to our customers both over the phone and in person to make insurance easy to understand. This is a high-pressure, fast-paced position with the need for a high level of organizational skills.  Travel will occasionally be required. 

Responsibilities

These are the responsibilities expected of an applicant interested in this position.

  • Market professional liability and other applicable coverages to prospective clients and networks across the U.S. 
  • Provides proactive day-to-day client service by anticipating client needs and responding to client questions and issues in a timely manner.
  • Gathers information from client related to risk management/commercial needs and evaluates the best way to manage the client’s risk.
  • Reviews with the client loss experience and current coverage. Recommends appropriate products and services.
  • Creates and presents renewal proposals to existing clients. Conducts reviews via telephone on annual basis or as appropriate to identify opportunities to cross sell other lines of coverage.
  • Prepares and provides information to insureds using effective presentation skills through both verbal and written communications.
  • Building professional relationships by communicating with our insureds by meeting mutually desired objectives.   
  • Following-up with prospects and insureds on a regular basis
  • Coordinate new sales efforts within the division to achieve cross-selling opportunities and division goals.
  • Responsible for growth of assigned book of business as well as client retention goals.
  • Ensures that all regulatory, compliance and transparency requirements are met and complies with all internal policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned of an Account Manager

Qualifications

Applicants are expected to meet these qualifications to be considered for this position.

  • Commercial Insurance License highly preferred – if not currently licensed, or license has expired upon employment, candidate is required to obtain license and pass all applicable exams.
  • Possesses a solid understanding of basic insurance principals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively as part of a team working in a high visibility client environment. Must be able to work independently.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills to resolve customer service and departmental issues.
  • Must demonstrate professional and ethical business practices, adherence to company standards, and a commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Must be highly proficient in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Using technology efficiently such as computers, phones, misc. office equipment
  • Travel - infrequently
