Job Description

VGM Marketing is an internal marketing agency that serves the 25 business units of VGM Group, Inc. The copywriter for VGM Marketing collaborates with clients, account managers, and the creative team to produce action-driven copy for marketing campaigns. We’re looking for someone who knows how to grab attention, influence, or educate using only a few words. The copywriter produces copy for email marketing campaigns, landing pages, blogs, social media posts, print collateral, and, increasingly, video. They’re also an experienced storyteller who interviews customers and/or thought leaders and writes compelling feature stories. They use wit, heart, and the power of words to drive audiences to action. And above all else, they take complex topics and turn them into something simple and consumable. Must be able to provide online portfolio or writing samples, preferably indicating your role on each project.

Responsibilities

These are the responsibilities expected of an applicant interested in this position.

  • Work in a seriously fast-paced environment with the ability to constantly re-prioritize projects to meet deadlines
  • Produce relevant, accessible, and, on occasion, delightful copy for action-driven campaigns
  • Seek to understand the audience viewpoint and create a positive user experience
  • Partner with the creative team of designers and writers to strategize campaign messaging ideas
  • Research products, programs, and services to assist in message and campaign creation
  • Interview VGM leaders and customers and assist them in effectively communicating ideas, concepts, and program offerings in writing
  • Present ideas and drafts, edit, and proof copy until the client is satisfied
  • Work effectively from a web-based project management system
  • Adhere to voice, tone, and AP style…mostly. (We ignore it when it suits us.)

Qualifications

Applicants are expected to meet these qualifications to be considered for this position.

  • A four-year degree or higher in the fields of journalism, English, marketing, or digital communication.
  • Must have experience as a copywriter, writer, or journalist with a strong background in digital and social content required
  • Excellent written and verbal language proficiency
  • Experience writing for digital campaigns required
  • Excellent people and listening skills
  • Creative and imaginative
  • Must be able to multitask several projects and show strong organizational and communication skills
