Job Description

VGM Marketing is an internal marketing agency that serves the 28 business units of VGM Group, Inc., and we’re looking for a copywriting intern. As a copywriting intern, you’ll assist the VGM Marketing department in crafting copy for a variety of marketing campaigns, which include emails, landing pages, blog posts, social media posts and print collateral. We’re looking for someone who knows how to grab attention, influence or educate using only a few words. The copywriting intern may also interview customers and/or thought leaders and write compelling feature stories (emphasis on stories—storytelling is important). In short, if it can be written, the copywriting intern will likely have a chance to craft it.

Must be able to provide an online portfolio or writing samples, preferably indicating your role on each project. Please feel free to include some creative writing. This is a paid internship. 2018 Spring – Summer with the possibility of extending further. Ideally, the intern would be able to work at least 20 hours per week.


These are the responsibilities expected of an applicant interested in this position.

  • Produce relevant, accessible and, on occasion, delightful copy for action-driven campaigns in a fast-paced environment.
  • Seek to understand the audience viewpoint and create a positive user experience.
  • Research products, programs and services to assist in message and campaign creation.
  • Interview VGM leaders and customers and assist them in effectively communicating ideas, concepts and program offerings in writing.
  • Present ideas and drafts, and modify copy until the client is satisfied.
  • Work effectively from a project management system.
  • Adhere to voice, tone and (mostly) AP style.


Applicants are expected to meet these qualifications to be considered for this position.

The ideal candidate would be pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Journalism, English/Creative Writing, Marketing or relevant field of study. They must also have:

  • Passion for words!
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent people and listening skills
  • Creativity and imagination
  • The ability to multitask several projects and show strong organizational and teamwork.
